MILANO CENTRALE

The central railway station of Milan “Milano Centrale” has been inaugurated 1931 and is one of the main European railway stations. The construction of the station begun on 1906 but proceeded very slowly, due to the economic problems caused by 1st World War and to the numerous changes of the initial project under the Mussolini regime, which wanted the station more and more imposing. The building itself was a record to these times, with a 75 meter high vault and a 200 meters wide façade, mixing up different architectural styles. The Stazione Centrale of Milan has 120 million visitors yearly, 320.000 passengers daily, with a traffic of about 500 trains per day.
